Can you give a bit more detail on your gear for catching your bait fish for Halibut? What are you using? What is the actually size of the bait fish you are catching? How many does one need on a typical day?

i would go with the malibu x-factor or the ocean kayak prowler big game.they are made for big people with 600 lb capacity, but you don't have to be big to use them. i weigh 170 and owned an x-factor which i just sold and got a big game, havent used it yet it's still shipping. x is 33" wide 14' 4 " long, big game 34" wide 12' 9" long. i like wide yaks because it's more space and more stable, so it's a more enjoyable time. good brands are malibu, ocean kayak, wilderness systems, hobie.

Fixing on buying one but don't know anything about it.

I live in SW FLorida, 5'8, 165 lbs and majority of time fish inland, and occasionally off shore if the conditions permit. Light fishing, Snapper, snook, grouper.....

What size Kayak suits my body?
What brands are good for my purpose? which ones to stay away from?

would be much appreciated.

Very informative but did not explain the actual features of the boat, just the aftermarket accessories and other junk he had with him.. Weight capacity? suited to larger or smaller paddler? Transducer compatible? Suitable for distance paddling or short ventures? Waterproof storage, ect.
