The eTrex HC is water proof and has about 10 hours of battery life. The display doesnt wash out in bright sun light. The Garmin eTrex Venture also has a calendar which include the cycles of the moon for hunting fishing and tides. It can also track speed and distanced traveled. It's great as a hunting GPS, Camping and Hiking GPS or Kyaking GPS. I have the older version and plan on upgrading if I don't get a new one for Christmas.
