Seems to me if you have time to tuck the paddle under your arm, maybe you should have your paddle in the water and try to not capsize in the first place?

@kyaker123 I am worried about doing this with a life jacket on, it seems like if you went upside down the life jacket would keep you from being able to push yourself out?

No they aren’t proper life jackets. These are whats known as bouyancy aids and its perfectly safe. Every kayaker uses them and they do provide the bouyancy which keeps you up when your out of the boat but in no way trap you inside it upside down.
All you have to worry about is making sure when you do kayaking etc. you only wear bouyancy aids and not life jackets. Real life jackets could cause problems but an aid like this is perfectly fine.

There is a little more urgency in Newfoundland or Greenland waters. 30 - 38 degree F water is highly motivating.
Salt water freezes at a lower temp.
