go to the texaskayakfisherman web site… look at the btb section (beyond the breakers) you will see lots of guys talking about going out… looking for people in areas to go offshore with… make some posts and make some friends in the btb section… you will have plenty of opportunity….. good luck..ty
Ty my kayak is a cresent splash 2, and i took it out on rough surf one day to go fishing. the water flushed right out but when i arrived home there was some water in the hatch. i did add 2 flush mount rod holders but i sealed very good. with g/flex. besides everything is all intact i don’t know how that little bit of water is getting in?
@champl94 hey bud this is Jesse from this video I read your comment about the leaking problem so I looked up your kayak and all I could see is the little hatch at the back seat that could be a possible leak spot also you said you put in new flush rod holders, this may sound silly but some of those have a little drainage hole on the bottom that could take in water and drain it into the kayak maybe you didn’t see them? Those are the only two things I can think of right now.

we buy those shiny 2 1/2′ stainless steel king fish leaders or we make our own king leaders…. i use 45lb single strand mono with a small trebble hook then i attach a 8-12” trailer treble hook…. the ribbon fish are bought by the dozen frozen… ty
@champl94 You can do the soapy water test. Mix together some dish soap get it good and sudsy and poor it over the yak where you think it might be leaking then check for leaks. Plenty of other ways to check as well.
to prevent all the cutoff’s i use 175lb wire with a 4-6/0 circle hook 4X and i have a treble 6/0 10 inches from the circle hook with a 200lb barrel swivel between the two hooks and a 300lb barrel at the top in all its about a 4 foot leader.
