Should I get a 1 or 2 person kayak?

May 6th, 2011 |

(This may seem like a silly question…)
But I’m getting a kayak, and I don’t know which to get!
I will go with friends, but i also want to go by myself and not have to carry that extra weight,
(Also, does it weigh a lot more?)

Wilderness Systems Pungo Kayak Family Overview

May 5th, 2011 |

Now available at www.outdoorplay.com - The Pungo name stands for “tracks fast and true on lakes, ponds, sounds and slow deep rivers.” That’s how Pungos have become one of the best-selling kayaks in the world. Beginners can climb in and go where they aim (no small feat for someone new to a kayak), and more experienced paddlers can extract remarkable performance from these boats. Phase3 outfitting allows you to set up your seat to precisely fit your body type. The sculptured high-density foam seat encourages air circulation and the precise-position settings relieve thigh and back fatigue, delivering unprecedented control and comfort. A friction-adjustment system permits settings anywhere within the range of motion for that adjustment. Best of all, you’ll never have to land and exit your boat to adjust your settings; all controls are right at your fingertips. Gen2 high-density polyethylene plastic was chosen to provide a balance of all the material properties that make an outstanding recreational kayak. Amazingly resilient for its weight, Gen2 results in boats with thin, stiff walls that stand up to the demands of the sport and minimize the distortion that is inevitable over time. Gen2 also produces a smoother finish with richer, longer lasting colors. The sealed bulkhead and new “turn-and-lock” hinged hatch covers make access to gear easier than ever. Simply slide the lever and flip open the hatch for access to stored item. A new removable Kayak Console easily attaches to

Inland Waters Kayak Fishing - from Quietwater Films

May 3rd, 2011 |

We’re hard at work on our fourth movie, inland waters kayak fishing, featuring kayaks from Native Watercraft, Jimbo Meador, muskies by Chippewa Flowage waters, and guiding services from Hayward Fly Fishing Company. Filming onsite in early June in northern Wisconsin was fabulous. Great water, great boats and some great fish. Here is a taste of what we are working on. Check www.quietwaterfilms.com for more updates! We’ll have this movie complete and available later this summer.

What should I wear to go kayaking?

May 3rd, 2011 |

I’m going kayaking on Sunday with a guy that I kind of like. I’m 16. I haven’t been kayaking since I was 7. So I have no idea what I should wear. Obviously when I was 7, I didn’t pay attention. Give me ideas? One piece, 2 piece, clothes, board shorts and a tank top, etc. I HAVE NO IDEA!!! No hate, please.

are inflatable kayaks safe, durable, and a reasonable purchase for casual kayaking/canoing?

May 1st, 2011 |

I was thinking about buying an inflatable kayak/canoe for messing around on the lake and in the bay. Are they OK for such a thing? I live in Rhode Island, I don’t know if that info is helpful. Thanks.
