I have a 12 ft old town angler kayak that I bought last fall and finally got to take it out on the river. I’m new to kayaking, have done it on vacations in lagoons, but this is the first time on fast water.
What is a safe speed on cfs on water to paddle in for a beginner? Also, it was 4200cfs when I put in and I couldn’t paddle upstream with it. I just sat still no matter how aggressive I was. The minute I stopped paddling I of course went zipping away lol. On less cfs, will I be able to paddle upstream? I realize I was in way over my head with that cfs, so thats why I’m asking what cfs would be more safer to go in.
My plan was the paddle upstream and troll down by just floating while fishing.
What suggestions do you have, there is no one here that gives lessons, I have begged friends of friends to just take me out and show me the ropes and no one responds back. So I’m just trying to learn on my own. I have rafted alot so its not new that way, but kayaking in itself is new.

This video shows you how to repair a dented kayak. We boil some water ahead of time, then we use air pressure inside the hull while applying the hot water to the dented area. Once its hot the material will get soft and the air pressure will get the dent to mostly pop back out. This was a fairly severe dent that we purposely put into the hull to show the repair technique… so we had to use a bit more force by hand than just the pressure to remove - but as you can see it is a fairly simple repair to make at home. I usually travel to Northern California to do WhiteWater Rafting trips and such, but I want to start doing some canoeing/kayaking and/or other water sportsl in my area. Does anyone know where would be the best places to go in the San Bernardino Area? Thanks!

We’ll be kayaking 3-5 hrs a day for three days. I know there will be pain involved, but I am just wondering if I am going to be able to go to work after the trip/be able to move and etc. I am in mid 20’s, of normal weight and health but I don’t really exercise.

I am looking for a single seat sit-on-top or sit-in kayak. The closest store that sells kayaks in AZ is Cabelas which is about a 2 hour drive from where i live. I’ve also looked on Craigslist in Phoenix and did not find anything i liked. I am looking for something more like an online sporting goods store or official makers website that does shipping. Any ideas are greatly appreciated-Thanks in advance!!!
