Sit-on-to vs regular Kayaks? Which is right for me?

November 30th, 2010 |

I plan on taking it to the beach a few times, and definately in the mangrove swamps of Tampa bay and our fresh water springs. I do not mind getting wet, but I will be taking it out from time to time in the colder months and if I get really wet, I may not find it too pleasent. But the sit-on-tops seem to be beter for me becuase I can get in and out of them easier. But the salesman is telling that there is no real advantage to them cuase the regular kayaks are so hard to roll over anyway. Any advice?

My CPVC Kayak

November 30th, 2010 |

This is my CPVC kayak frame with a brown tarp skin. In this video I’m just testing it after building. My paddle had just broken; as I was using a crappily duct taped set of two plastic paddles. They have since been fixed and you can see them in the pt. II of this video where i’m about to use this kayak for it’s intended purpose, fishing! The reason I used CPVC is because it is cheaper and, for this purpose, in no way different than PVC. This is based off the design on instructables (www.instructables.com but I forgot to print out the instructions so I just winged it and used relative measurements.

November 30th, 2010 |

Went kayaking and paddled for 7 hours. The muscle near the one shoulder- extending down to the tricep area is noticeably swollen. Arm can move but it is sore. What is the best treatment e.g., ICE or HEAT, Compression, Advil, etc.? or RICE- Rest Ice Compression Elevate (how do you compress?)
