Looking for a spray skirt for my Old Town Otter Kayak?

April 14th, 2010 |

I am looking for a spray skirt for my Old Town Otter Kayak, I have looked at many on eBay. But most just say S,M,L, or XL but don’t say what the dimensions are.

I am looking at a Harmony Elite II, but unsure what size I need in this spray skirt.

How is the kayaking and canoeing in Seward, Alaska?

April 14th, 2010 |

I am planning a visit to Anchorage in late July with my wife and 7 year-old daughter. We’re planning a day trip to Seward for a sled dog tour, but the train back to Anchorage leaves late that afternoon, leaving us with time to kill in Seward. Is Seward and Resurrection Bay a good place to kayak? Can anyone recommend a good kayaking tour or rental company? I’m looking at Backcountry Safaris right now, so if anyone can comment on that company in particular, that would be especially helpful. Thanks!

How To Use the Kayak Ergo Part 1

April 12th, 2010 |

From the web site www.howto.tv Watch Trevor Wetherall, a former British international kayaker and Olympic coach (currently Head Coach at Richmond Canoe Club), explain how to use a kayak ergo to ensure you get the most out of your indoor paddle training. The different parts of the kayak ergo are identified, before moving onto the paddlers set-up on the machine. The kayak stroke is divided into four sections: The Air Work — focusing on rotation and reach The Catch — possibly the most important part of the kayak stroke, showing where the paddle is placed at the front of the stroke

Which kayak (brand) would best suit me?

April 12th, 2010 |

I’m planning on using the kayak to ride down rivers/lakes, as high a quality as possible at a reasonable price (I’m a beginner, but do not want a bad quality kayak). It would be good if the kayak may be able to ride the ocean (when it’s calm) although I’ll definitely ride rivers/lakes more. If it helps, I’ll probably never purposely jump over a waterfall :)
Probably 0-1000 price limit.
